These careers events are for Year 11-12 pupils and are focussed exclusively on today’s dynamic ICT industry.
Momentum and e-skills UK in conjunction with the Higher Education Academy for Information and Computer Science, the University of Ulster and Queens University plan, coordinate and run the events in locations throughout Northern Ireland during the academic year.
Event Aims
- Information about the skill requirement and career opportunities in the ICT sector in Northern Ireland
- Guidance on the selection of appropriate subjects at A level
- An insight into computing at university
- Pupils will be informed, excited and enthused about computing as a career
- Challenges to the perception that computing/ICT is only for boys or only for ‘nerds’.
- An appreciation of the diversity of jobs and associated lifestyles available in the ICT sector.
Event Format
- Refreshments on arrival and packed lunch provided
- Informal with an interactive approach throughout
- Students and graduate industry ambassadors at each table
- Videos about careers within ICT and showing young people employed in the ICT Industry
- Presentations from key speakers from industry and academia
- Quizzes and prizes
- BringITonni.info promotional items for each pupil
- Careers literature packs available for each attending school
