Event Types

An event where pupils will interact with technology professionals and industry experts and learn about computing careers.
Registration starts at 10:00am, event starting at 10:30am

The number of computing jobs in Northern Ireland continues to grow offering secure, rewarding and stimulating roles for pupils with an interest in STEM subjects well into the future.
Event Aims
To demonstrate through dialogue and interaction the variety and attractiveness of a career in ICT
To provide information about the skill requirements and career opportunities within the ICT sector in NI
To illustrate an effective insight into studying computing at college and university
To offer guidance on the selection of appropriate subjects at GCSE and A Level
As a result of the event it is expected that attending pupils will achieve the following:-
An up-to-date understanding of the variety of career opportunities available in the industry
Understanding of the business of real companies operating in the ICT sector
Understanding of the qualifications required to join the industry
This is one of a series of events being delivered by e-skills UK (the Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology) and Momentum (the Northern Ireland ICT federation) in conjunction with Queens University, University of Ulster and Belfast Metropolitan College and comes under the BringITon campaign which is supported by Invest NI and the Department for Employment and Learning.

Requirements
Pupils aged 14 to 16 years with an particular interest in mathematics, the sciences and ICT – although they do not need to be studying this at present.
These events are informal with an interactive approach throughout so pupils must be willing to engage and participate in the table exercises and quizzes.
One Teacher must be present for each 10 pupils that attend, the teachers role will be to supervise their pupils throughout the event, encourage their participation and work with them on tasks.
