National ICT Day - Derry/Londonderry

On the 29th February 2012 the ICT employers and the Derry/Londonderry Area schools will be running a one day conference.

This conference will allow participants to:

  • Learn about a career in one of the fastest growing sectors in Northern Ireland
  • Examine and investigate how technology impacts all of our lives
  • Find out about our ‘secret’ profession
  • Hear about the future from industry leading technologists
  • Discover the path to a richly rewarding career

The ICT profession is important to the economy of Northern Ireland – bringing in more than eight hundred million pounds annually to the local economy and employing over 25,000 people in secure well paid jobs.

There is no charge for the event, and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Each school is invited to bring 15 pupils who have an interest in STEM subjects with a teacher who must be present all day.

This event is part of the BringITon campaign supported by Invest NI and the Department for Employment and Learning and delivered by e-skills UK (the Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology) and Momentum (the Northern Ireland ICT federation). This is aimed at encouraging more young people to consider a career in computing.
