JOB TITLE: Senior Research Professional
Senior Research Professional – working in the area of Semantic Technologies, looking into various challenges of the design and implementation of Semantic Web and Semantic Technologies, outside and within the company.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
In my last year of University I took a 6 month IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) student placement with BT, located at Adastral Park. During the placement I was offered to try to join BT’s graduate scheme and after a few interviews I was successful! As a graduate (and after leaving graduate scheme), I was actively seeking opportunities to gain more experience and responsibility, which has resulted in promotion to senior researcher.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
A handful of technical skills (programming in various languages, mostly using Java these days; using and modifying collaborative tools; design) with a touch of management ones.
BENEFITS OF THE JOB:
Being inside of BT Research department provides a real view into new technologies being developed and used at the same time, sometimes it feels like having a glimpse into what will everyday life use next year or next decade. Working on the European projects provides a different view into what’s happening in my little corner of the research, but across different companies and academic institutions.
CAREER GOALS:
Improve my skills, get established in what I do, find an interesting topic for a PHD and have a team of my own at some point in the future!
