More About Me

COMPANY: Milo

JOB TITLE: Flash Developer

As a flash developer my job is to bring the site to life. I am the one who makes all the cool looking things on websites!

My role is to take the design and lead for the art directors turning flat visuals into a living moving piece of art that you can interact with. It could be animation, data connections, displaying video, making 3d objects, or whatever else is needed to make it work.

RELATED DEGREE:

I failed High School but managed to get into university on an aptitude test. At University MIT (Manukau Institute of Technology in New Zealand) I studied a Bachelor of Information Systems, where I actually ended up graduating top of my class!

WORK EXPERIENCE:

My first job out of uni was as a flash developer for Vodafone. I made an eLearning piece that trained their CSR (Call Centre Representatives) in a new system that they were building. It was rolled out to the whole of New Zealand, Austraila and Fiji.

My next job was at Aim Proximity, where I started as a Junior and worked my way up to Senior Developer/Technical Lead. As Aim Proximity’s lead presentation layer developer I played an integral part in the departments development. I oversaw and helped guide the other developers to ensure the best possible solution was achieved.

At Aim Proximity, I was lucky enough to have worked on some of New Zealand’s largest clients: Vodafone, Air New Zealand, Bank of New Zealand, Westpac, Yellow Pages, The Warehouse, BMW/Mini, VISA and Toyota creating a wide range of technical solutions for emails, banners, microsites, full website development, application development, on-line game development and widgets. Whilst there, the work I produced won quite a few national and international awards.

I have since moved to the UK to do some travelling. Freelancing was a natural choice as I had experience, a strong portfolio and some solid awards. Since being here I have worked on such clients as, British Gas, M&S, Vodafone, Christies Auctions and Land Rover.
