JOB TITLE: Multimedia Designer
A Multimedia Designer incorporates a range of digital design from designing and coding the front-end of websites to producing marketing literature including magazines, brochures and stationary. Multimedia includes animation – Flash, Video or otherwise, and requires a knowledge of several design software packages including the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop; Illustrator; InDesign; Acrobat), Premiere (or other video editing package), QuarkXpress, Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver (or another web design package) and Sound Edit (or a similar sound software package).
This role encompasses discussing and deciding a working brief, budget and deadline with the client, and then following the entire creative process through from start to finish. It also involves working with backend programmers who add the complicated functionality, e-commerce, forms, template design or otherwise.

- Fine Art and Graphic Design Foundation Course at Winchester School of Art.
- BA Fine Art Degree & Theoretical Criticism at Goldsmiths College, London University.
- 2 year Diploma in Multimedia & Virtual Reality at Kingsway College, London.
- 1 year Diploma in Travel Writing and Journalism.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Curated and participated in several group shows after university.
- Wrote for the Artists Newsletter.
- Employed by Code-Name based at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, working on a project for Channel 4 Learning creating animation for a website called The Number Crew.
- Employed as a Web Designer for ‘A.L.Downloading’ creating CD authoring and designed websites for their co-partner security company ‘The Bunker’.
- Employed as Creative Director for a lifestyle magazine named Eden based in Richmond which also involved interviewing & writing for several sections.
- Creative Director of Sheetfed Printing Group for 3 years managing four printing factories.
- Started my own company, Origin Multimedia Limited taking on several jobs from website design, kiosk design, banner advertising, email marketing campaigns, printing and illustration.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Good client liaison skills to negotiate a brief and the ability to describe the visuals before the wireframes have been created.
- Project management skills between the client, strategist, other designers and back-end programmers.
- Time management skills to meet a deadline with realistic expectations.
- Programming ability on the front end level (the front interface is what the user interacts with).
- Creative flair and innovative thought processes.
- User testing ability to ensure the website is cross-platform (works on both PC/Mac & different browsers).
- Marketing awareness to ensure that the design reflects both the product and company brand.
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to ensure the website ranks high in the listing on specific search engines.
