JOB TITLE: Technical Project Manager

• Leader of Future Content group, part of Research department.
• Running projects and looking after a team involved with collaborative efforts across Europe.
• Might start day meeting team, conference call with European partners, brainstorming for new work, helping colleagues with technical problem.
• Keeping an eye on projects as well as getting involved in technical issues.

RELATED DEGREE:

• A Levels – Maths, Physics
• Degree in Engineering from University of Cambridge

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Sponsored by the MOD throughout the degree through their engineering training scheme they provided at the time.
• Currently the leader of the team I joined about 9 years ago.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Show a breadth of interest, not just technical skills. Interest maybe in creative or media as well as computer science skills.
• Don't necessarily have to be excellent to start with but have some hands on experience.

BENEFITS OF THE JOB:

Launched a TV programme in Finland, working with Finnish national broadcaster. First of its kind in the world!

CAREER GOALS:

• Started major new collaborative activity and have taken on more people in the team. BT is changing its direction and looking to work with corporate customers more.
• Over next 5 years will becoming much more involved as a Technology Translator.
