Company Profile: Fujitsu NI
Company Profile
What it does…
Fujitsu Services is one of the companies at the heart of making sure that technology works for everything you do. From making sure a mobile phone company’s IT runs, so you can make calls and send texts, to ensuring that when you start work the right technology is in place so you pay the right amount of income tax. A career at Fujitsu can be extremely diverse – with 20,000 people across Europe there are many different roles – everything from helpdesks and PC desktop services to software development and business consulting for its customers.
Fujitsu at home…
When you apply for your driving licence in Northern Ireland it is Fujitsu systems that process your application and produce your licence documentation. If someone wants to dig up your road it is Fujitsu’s mapping system that provides the contractor with all the details of where the water, electric and other services are located and so minimising the risk of accidentally cutting off your essential supplies. If you are looking for a job then the Fujitsu developed www.jobcentreonline.com for DEL is one of the places you would look.
And there’s more!
Since June 2007 Fujitsu Services have announced the creation of nearly 600 new jobs with the majority of these going to a new IT Services Centre of Excellence. This centre is a new build property located in Timber Quay on the banks of the Foyle in Londonderry. This is an £18m investment by Fujitsu to bring IT Services into Northern Ireland that deliver across its European customer base. Currently, with these expansion projects still ongoing Fujitsu has 700 Northern Ireland employees, the majority located at centres in the Belfast area.
IT is for all at Fujitsu!
Historically the IT industry has been perceived as male dominated. Locally, 30% of Fujitsu’s Software Professionals are female and this has been increasing in recent years. Fujitsu recognises that priorities change during an individual’s career and strives wherever possible, to be flexible.
Graduates…
As well as having the opportunity to apply to join the UK Graduate Programme Fujitsu also recruits graduates locally in Northern Ireland within its IT Specialist programme. This programme not only provides competitive starting salaries and benefits packages but also a 2 year programme of training and development to better prepare you for a career in IT.
