Turning the Tables on Technology
Touch screen turntable is the brainchild of Scott Hobbs, a design student from Dundee…
The ATTIGO is about the same size as a conventional deck set-up, but has all the flexibility of digital track storage; choosing new tracks without all that swapping of vinyl. The design allows DJs to see, hear, touch and manipulate a track as it is being played. It uses a visual waveform of the music travelling vertically upwards on a conveyor belt.
It is designed to work like a conventional setup with two turntables connected to any mixer through a line-out. According to Scott’s website, the technology embedded in the product has to “replicate the capabilities of a real turntable” if it is to be successful in the ever growing .mp3 market”.
