Wii Fit – Fitness DVDs get interactive…

Couch potato

Since Pong arrived in the 70s people have associated video games with slobbing out. But no more. If you thought Dance Dance Revolution down your local bowling alley got you in a sweat, Wii Fit acts as your new personal trainer!

Avoid the gym

Marketed as the world’s first “fitness” game, Wii Fit comes with a ‘balance board’ that weighs you and tracks your movements alongside the controller. Unlike the gym you can try everything from skiing to tightrope walking to hula-hoop dancing and your virtual personal trainer will guide you through with far more detailed statistics than you’ll ever get down your local LA Fitness.

History of fun

Nintendo have pushed the boundaries since the 70s, bringing us the ‘Zapper’ light gun, the NES, the Game Boy – the first handheld console and of course the Wii. They have forever been thinking of new ideas rather than always being the most geek-friendly, make playing games even more fun. But believe it or not Nintendo was actually formed in 1889 making Japanese playing cards! At £95 (Wii not included) Wii Fit is cheaper than 3 months at the gym, and you don’t even have to leave your living room… unless your mum’s watching Eastenders.
